Rachel Brashear born March 24, 1814 Hardin County, Kentucky was the daughter of Edward Brashear and Nancy Ann Dyson. Edward Brashear was born in Maryland about 1777 and appears to have removed to Kentucky in the last decade of the 1700's. An Edward Brashear is listed on the 1800 Federal Tax list in Bullitt County, Kentucky. The 1810 Federal Census of the area does not list an Edward Brashear, though several men of the surname are enumerated. The 1820 Federal Census records offer an Edward Brashear living in Grayson County, Kentucky with several children in the household including 2 females under 10 years of age. Edward Brashear is enumerated in Hardin County, Kentucky in 1830 with several children including one female age 10-14. Rachel Brashear Watkins dies in Larue County, Kentucky on October 5, 1888.
