In 1810 a Richard Atterberry is enumerated in Ohio County, Kentucky. In that year Grayson County, Kentucky was formed from lands of Ohio County and Hardin County.

Daniel Atterberry is enumerated here in close proximity to Lewis Watkins, Joseph Watkins, and William Watkins. Daniel Atterberry later has a grandson that shares his name born in Illinois in 1859. Daniel Atterberry, the grandson's, death record offers that his mother was Ann Watkins. Ann Watkins is researched to be the daughter of Joseph Watkins, the brother of William Watkins.
According to the 1830 Census above William Watkins's enumeration included four males under the age of twenty, three females each under the age of fifteen , one female aged forty to fifty years besides William Watkins listed aged thirty to forty, and a female listed aged twenty to age thirty (presumed to be William's wife Mary Atterberry).
